As a newcomer to Professional Photography (and to owning my own business), I’m truly overwhelmed by how much there is to learn. I’m constantly changing and adding to my website and portfolios, and probably driving my fabulous website designer Phil crazy with every change and addition. Seriously though, Phil has been awesome and I highly recommend him to anyone who wants an elegant, simple, custom-designed website with incredible customer service.
Here are my new home page images, just added to the site. I chose these for a few reasons:
1) Both are candid images. The subjects had no idea that I was capturing them in these moments. For me, this is what photography is all about. Record life as it happens and maybe every now and then, get lucky enough to freeze something that no one else would’ve ever seen.
2) Both images seem to resonate with the energy that I hope to build my business on: capturing honest moments with sensitivity and simplicity.
2) This was, without a doubt, the best wedding that I shot this year! I can comfortably say this because the Bride and Groom are very dear friends of ours.
3) Kauai…need I say more?
Here is Sophie, the Groom’s daughter and Flower Girl, before the ceremony.
And Amy and Scott dancing. They hadn’t planned a dance like this, but Scott’s dad requested it. We were all glad that he did.
I’m so excited about 2008. I have some new and interesting projects coming up…more news on all of this very soon!

I was lucky enough to see some of my favorite people on earth over the holidays…some old high school pals. Nowadays, we are spread out from N.Y.C. to S. Carolina to L.A., but all crossed paths for barely 24 hours in Akron and managed some play time. We met at a park that we used to hang out at in high school. This time, however, we supervised our kids as they played. I guess we finally grew up, although I’m not sure exactly when this happened.
I grabbed a few shots of the beautiful children:
The Fearless Abrianna.
The Charming Isaiah.
The Adorable Olivia (with her handsome father).
My little guy couldn’t get over all the big kids!
And the old pals, I miss them so!
Christina (a.k.a. Nuns) and Annie O.
Jen (a.k.a. Nel) and Nuns.
What an unexpected delight to see all of you! Let’s do this again soon. Much Love, Jo
I have lots in store for this blog as well as my buisness over the next few months, so stay tuned!

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday season and that all of you got to spend some quality time with those who you love most. My apologies for disappearing for a while. I was taking a much needed break with my family in Akron, Ohio. We visited for the holidays and squatted at my father’s place for nearly three weeks. It was unbelievably relaxing and wonderful to see all of my relatives and some old friends as well. I haven’t had the chance to upload most of my images yet, but I did want to post a couple for now. More to come!
One of my favorite adventures in Ohio was visiting my God-sister, Nancy (who wouldn’t let me photograph her, but we will work on that) and her family. Nancy was my partner in crime as a kid, and although we live on different sides of the country, our connection today is as strong as it ever was. Here are a couple of my favorite images of her beautiful daughters:
This is Angeliki.
She really is as angelic as she appears.
Elisa is a little bit more mischievous than her older sister, but equally as wonderful.
I am completely in Love with these girls. They both possess such amazing intellects and will blow you out of the water with their pure sweetness. Their favorite band is The Beatles and they gave my son a copy of Abbey Road for Christmas. We have been listening to it constantly. Thanks, Angeliki and Elisa! We Love You (and your parents, too…)
One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to blog more regularly, so check back often. May 2008 bring all of you many wonderful adventures!
