Taking a break

We’re in Tahoe and it’s like heaven. We leave on Thursday and this breaks my heart, although I have plenty to do when I return. Want to hear about my day yesterday? It was divine…

9:00 am- wake up, pancakes

10:00 am-pool for the little man’s swim lesson

3:00 pm-finally leave the pool

3:30 pm-nap on the couch

5:00 pm-leftovers for dinner, yum!

6:30 pm- walk on the beach, so warm…heaven

early to bed because another grueling day awaits…

Here are a couple of shots from the beach walk, we couldn’t have timed the light better had we tried. I’m so incredibly self conscious about the huge amount of weight I gain during my pregnancies and I hate having my photo taken, but it is what it is and I figure I’d might as well embrace it. Plus, the light and the little guy warm my heart. Thanks, Pat for the awesome image.

I could get used to this.

dads day

Happy Father’s Day to Pat, the best Dad I  know.

And to my Dad, I miss you everyday…

Maybe someday soon I’ll be able to write more about him, but for today this is all that I can muster up. Thank you to the sweet and talented Theresa, for turning me onto this quote which I think about a lot these days:

“The deeper that sorrow carves into your being the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven?”

-Kahlil Gibran

I hope that today was a beautiful day for you.

finally here

School is over, class picnics and potlucks and schedules are now behind us. Alas, Summer has arrived in our lives. Yesterday was our first official day and it was glorious. We started the day at the beach with friends, came home and made cookies and then delivered them by bike to the local firehouse (his idea), and then went back to the beach until dinnertime. Not bad for day #1 of Summer, no? Today was not as exciting…but I did do some editing and thought I’d share a few sweet ones from a recent session. I love the way that the ocean speaks to everyone, regardless of their age. I know that she has been speaking to me lately…

A last minute shoot

Recently on Facebook, a peer of mine posted a status update about booking a wedding the day before, which I thought that was completely insane. One week later, I booked a first birthday party on the very day of the party! As it turns out, there was a photograpaher booked who had an emergency and had to cancel.  Now I don’t normally do birthday parties, but I wasn’t working last Saturday, so I went for it…and it was a blast. Many thanks to my peer and friend, San Jose based photographer Joo Pyo for the referral!

I just sat down to edit the images, but here is a tiny sneak peek…

Happy Tuesday! Here’s to almost the end of the school year and to four day work weeks!
