Yes, I know that I’ve been MIA lately. But I really do have a couple of good, well at least interesting excuses…
My first excuse is that I’ve been without my primary computer for almost one month because a slug (yes, as in the slimy things from the garden) crawled into the computer and caused all sorts of mischief. Huge shout out to the awesome folks at Apple who repaired it under warranty even though they didn’t have to. The quote from the customer service rep? “We’d rather retain you as a customer than have you pay for this repair”. As a business owner, I couldn’t have been more thrilled to hear this. I believe in going the extra mile for customers and clients, but to see it in action is so reassuring. Needless to say, Apple has me as a customer for life now!
The second excuse/piece of news is that I’m pregnant! Yep, in mid September, I’ll have something that resembles this as my very own…

We’re so excited and admittedly, a little nervous as well. One child seems so civilized, so easy. Now life is going to change…for the better of course, but it will change nonetheless.
Soooo, this leads me to an announcement:
Because baby is due in September, I will be on maternity leave from September through December…yeah, as in taking these four months off completely! I will continue to answer e-mails, process and ship orders, and book weddings and portrait sessions for 2011, but I will not be conducting shoots during these months. I’m nervous, as fall is my busiest time of year, but I realize that we will all need the time together and it goes by so fast…I want to suck it all up and relish every sleepless night without worrying about how I’m going to make it to the next day’s shoot!
So, whether you’re a new or returning client and you’d like to have portraits taken of your family before the year ends, now is the time to book! I’m scheduling portrait sessions from now through July and for some of August, and I fully expect my calendar to fill up completely within the next month or so. I know that many of you don’t think about holiday cards until around September, but summer is always a gorgeous time of year to get an outdoor session in. Imagine how good it will feel to get the family portraits finished by fall…a serious head start on your holiday to-do list. Yuck, did I mention the holidays? Sorry, I’m in summer mode too, just sayin’.
Anyhow, thanks so much for checking in. I have lots to blog and will do my best to keep the posts coming. I’m so grateful for you, my lovely blog readers. You are indeed some of the many treasures in this little life of mine…
